History/Overview
The Audi RS 5 takes the brand’s compact luxury coupe model and cranks it up to 11 with more aggressive styling and a big performance boost over the mid-range S5 model; the S5 and the entry-level A5 coupe are both covered in their own buyer’s guide entries.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
This year, Audi adds a handful of new standard features to the RS 5, along with a new competition package option.
Available Trims
The RS 5 comes in a single trim, powered by a turbo 2.9L V6 engine, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
New this year, the RS 5 comes dressed with a variety of gloss black exterior trim pieces; other additions are honeycomb-stitched Nappa leather, wireless phone charging, and rear-seat USB ports.
Like last year’s car, the 2023 RS 5 comes with 20-inch wheels, sport suspension and differential, LED matrix laser headlights with washers, power-folding/auto-dimming side mirrors, and passive keyless entry with hands-free trunk opening. Inside, there are heated front sport seats, ambient lighting, three-zone A/C, a heated steering wheel, auto-dimming mirror with compass and toll module, and a sunroof.
The infotainment system is built around a 10.1-inch touchscreen and contains navigation, satellite radio, and a new-for-2023 B&O stereo and wireless phone integration.
New standard safety features for 2023 include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, pre-sense front, active lane and traffic jam assists, and top-view cameras. Items carried forward from last year are front and rear collision mitigation, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Key Options
The new competition package brings a unique wheel design, different ECU/differential tuning, a sport exhaust, lowered coilover suspension, dinamica/leather upholstery, a 290-km/h speed limit, and Alcantara interior trim.
An Audi sport package adds a sport suspension with ride control, and a 280-km/h speed limit.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates are 13.2/9.2 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Audi RS 5 competes for sports car buyers’ attention with the Mercedes-AMG C 63, the BMW M4, and the Lexus RC F.
